Chicopee Mayor John Vieau Endorses Joel McAuliffe for State Representative

August 5, 2022

CHICOPEE – Chicopee Mayor John Vieau today endorsed City Councilor Joel McAuliffe for State Representative.

“I am proud today to endorse Joel McAuliffe to be Chicopee’s next State Representative,” said Mayor Vieau. “Joel has the right kind of experience to make sure Chicopee gets its fair share on Beacon Hill. He knows how the State House works and will deliver resources for us here in Chicopee to help us grow and thrive into the future.”

“I want to thank Mayor Vieau for his support — and confidence in me,” said McAuliffe. “He has shepherded us through the pandemic and kept Chicopee the kind of community where people want to live, work, and raise a family. I look forward to working closely with him to deliver for Chicopee in a partnership that makes our great city even better.”

Mayor Vieau and Councilor McAuliffe served on the City Council together until Vieau was elected Mayor in 2019.  Joel McAuliffe is the Ward 1 representative to the Chicopee City Council.  He is running for State Representative to ensure Chicopee receives its fair share in Boston.  He previously served as a Special Projects Manager in the Chicopee Mayor’s Office and as Deputy Chief of Staff for State Senator Eric P. Lesser (D-Longmeadow) in the Massachusetts State Senate.
